The planet does not need more ‘successful’ people. The planet desperately needs more peacemakers, healers, restorers, storytellers and lovers of all kinds. It needs people to live well in their places. It needs people with moral courage willing to join the struggle to make the world habitable and humane.
~His Holiness the Dalai Lama
A wise woman once told me that she was not herself after all. Before I got a chance to ask ‘how so?’, she quickly added that in her blood ran the blood of her ancestors and that her flesh was imprinted with the story of the world. Though she had never traveled outside of her country, she knew stories of faraway places and shared her pains with a mountain she looked at from the porch of her house.
That woman was my grandmother. These stories need telling.
Today, the world around us spins fast. We share our pain with psychotherapists not Nature; we numb it with pills and not herbs. We don’t listen to our stories and instead carry them around like a beat up suitcase. In a globalizing world, countries and cultures have emerged to look alike. Yet, they remain inherently particular. Telling our stories helps us get in touch with our selves. Sharing them with others enriches the understanding of human nature.
Join me as I tell my story and don’t be afraid to tell yours.
Love & Peace,
